Who We Are

First Baptist Church of Alameda is a multicultural, intergenerational community church, affiliated with the American Baptist Churches of the Central Pacific Coast. We have served Alameda since our founding in 1877, with continuing focus on meaningful worship, warm hospitality, community involvement, and spiritual development.

What to Expect

At First Baptist Alameda, we say that there's a place for you here. We're working to embody those words every week, so we hope you feel at home and find what you’re looking for. Here's what you can expect during our services:

Our worship services are casual, so wear what you'd like, sit where you're comfortable, and move about when necessary.

To ensure the health of our diverse faith family, we encourage you to wear a mask when inside the building. We also ask that each person be sensitive to the personal space and comfort levels of others as you choose seats and interact.

We love children and value their presence in the worship service. We also have a quiet room at the back of the sanctuary for those parents and children who may feel more at ease in that space.

Our music is best described as contemporary, led by a worship team that includes vocalists, keyboard, guitar, and drums. Please feel free to participate in the music in whatever ways you feel comfortable, including listening, singing, sitting, standing, kneeling, raising hands, clapping, and moving.

We have personal amplification systems for our hearing-impaired guests. Please speak to the sound technician for assistance.

We incorporate a brief greeting time early in the service. We hope you will feel seen and welcomed. We also want you to be comfortable with the interactions you have with others, whether those be handshakes, fist bumps, hugs, or simply verbal greetings and smiles.

To support our ministry, we collect an offering during each service. You are welcome to give but are in no way obligated to do so.

We would love for you to fill out a communication card, so we can get to know you. Don't worry...no one will show up at your house unexpectedly. This will just allow the pastor to reach out to you, to answer questions or provide information or support. This card can be dropped in the offering plate.

We invite you to stay a few minutes after the service for some refreshments and conversation in the gym area.
